We frequently get requests to review books on the web site. This month we were pleased to read this small paperback, which is an excellent beginning to understanding how foods affect diabetes control. The beginning of the book is set up as questions and answers. It stresses eating more healthy and getting more exercise. Like most well considered books it debunks fad diets - miracle fixes for weight loss.
There are two excellent chapters on how to navigate the supermarket and restaurants. In black and white you can compare Basilla Mushroom and Garlic Pasta Sauce to Contadina Reduced Fat Pesto with Basil. The carbohydrate count per serving for these two ready-made sauces is 12 g and 111 g respectively. Which would you select?
There are a few recipes included in the book, but buy it just to get straight answers for your everyday questions about food and diabetes. It is easy to read and understand, and gives you the facts as we know them today. Thanks, Ms Magee.
